Just like being stuck in prison on Alcatraz and cut off from everything, I think being here in San Francisco has made me realize I've been pretty cut off and behind in terms of how I use AI to code.
AI is everywhere here: the word 'agents' is plastered on buses, billboards and you can't go 100m without seeing a self-driving car (I love the Waymos!).
It is a whole different world compared to the sleepy little town I live in in England.
I was talking to my friend the other day (also called Ben) and when I told him I was still typing prompts, he was genuinely shocked.
I thought I was ahead using Cursor, and I was!... 18 months ago.
So I'm now using voice to code via WispFlow - as someone who hates even taking a phone call in a public place, I thought I'd hate it - but wow - it speeds things up a lot. I didn't realize how much my meat fingers were slowing me down.
I wrote a post about coding slow and smooth; I think I was wrong there. You can code fast and still maintain understanding & I'm now much more open to let an Agent carry out a big task, instead of small supervised ones.
I still review the code to understand everything and steer it if it goes wrong - but that's probably outdated too.
A new thing I added to Zoneless is agentic onboarding. I realized no one reads docs these days, and the people setting Zoneless up probably have little to no coding knowledge.
So, I made the site very agent friendly, and the main call to action is a prompt you can copy into an agent to set Zoneless up for you, instead of a 'get started' button. It looks weird, but it seems to be working well.
Anyway - this post is getting long. Today marks 2 weeks until this demo day - back to it!
